 2023 Preview

Cold Springs completed the 2022 season with a 4-6 record. Last year Cold Springs finished sixth in Class 2A region five with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The Eagles last playoff victory came during the 1993 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

The Eagles would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 4-16 record. Since 2010, Cold Springs has gone a combined 46-88. Their 34.3% winning percentage ranks 48th in Class 2A over the past thirteen seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Cold Springs has not won much with a record of 82-173. Their 32.0% winning percentage ranks 51st in Class 2A and 346th in the AHSAA.

The Eagles are led by head coach Brendan Voce who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 4-6 record in his first season at Cold Springs. The Eagles saw improvement from a 0-10 record the season before coach Voce arrived. The Eagles have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Voce.

The Eagles will need to win a few more games this fall if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region five this season.

The Eagles open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Curry on Friday, August 25 at Travis Hudson Stadium. Last year the Curry Yellow Jackets finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in eighth place in Class 4A region five.

Cold Springs and Curry have met a total of 3 times on the football field. The Eagles have a 2-1-0 record against the Yellow Jackets. They last met in 2022 with Cold Springs winning by a score of 36-14.
